Sierra Leonean Adventists Abroad (SLAA) is a faith based UK charity organization (1085936) dedicated to working with communities to overcome chronic poverty. It was established in 1992 for the purpose of advancing the general welfare of people in financial hardship and to offer assistance in education. SLAA serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
It operates as a voluntary subscription membership organisation. Over the years SLAA has grown and organised many philanthropic activities. All our activities are undertaken by up-paid volunteers to ensure the maximum benefit from funds raised goes to the people that need it the most. We believe local people have an important role to play in transforming their own local communities. We assist by providing support for improved health and better education.
We operate in Sierra Leone as a non Governmental Organisation (NGO); a country in acute poverty (ranked by the united nation as the poorest in the world.) with life expectancy of just 45 years. We are currently helping to rebuild healthcare capacity through phased re-establishment Masanga Leprosy Hospital, destroyed by civil war in Sierra Leone. We provide educational scholarships to ensure young people from disadvantages backgrounds gain an education
